Wrong-way driver fatally collides with semi-truck on I-40 in El Reno

EL RENO, OK – A wrong-way driver died after colliding with a semi-truck on I-40 on Sunday, according to KOCO.

A 29-year-old man was heading west in the eastbound lanes of I-40 when he hit a semi-truck around 2:50 a.m.

An El Reno police officer was heading west on I-40 in an attempt to stop the driver when the driver struck the semi-truck. Wreckage from the crash hit the officer’s vehicle. The officer was not hurt.

Rescue crews pronounced the driver dead at the scene and treated a passenger from the semi-truck. The semi-truck driver was not hurt in the collision.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
