On September 3, 2020, 2 plaintiffs-(family members) were involved in a motor vehicle collision in Oklahoma County, when a semi-truck ran a red light and struck the driver’s side of the plaintiff’s vehicle.
- Plaintiff 1: sustained multiple traumatic injuries, including a C7 facet fracture, right rib fractures 2-6, right hemothorax/pneumothorax, left internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm, and a right rotator cuff tear with ongoing shoulder and neck limitations. The plaintiff underwent right shoulder arthroscopy with rotator cuff repair, biceps tenodesis, subacromial decompression, and distal clavicle excision. The operative report lists those procedures as performed on the right shoulder.
- Plaintiff 2: A traumatic brain injury with left frontal subarachnoid/subdural hemorrhage, agitation/confusion, dysphagia, acute respiratory failure, and acute blood-loss anemia. Also sustained a right LC1 pelvic ring injury with fractures of the right sacrum, pubic tubercle, inferior pubic ramus, and right sacral ala, which was treated non-operatively with non-weight-bearing restrictions and discharge to rehab. Had right ankle fusion/hardware-removal surgery shortly before the crash, and later had a left partial hip replacement/hip hemiarthroplasty after a ground-level fall causing a displaced left femoral neck fracture.
