Woman charged for fatal crash near Lake Thunderbird
NORMAN, OK – According to The Oklahoman, a woman who allegedly used whippets while driving has been charged with a deadly crash that happened near 84th Ave NE and Alameda Dr on Feb. 2.
A 28-year-old woman was driving a 2016 Jeep Wrangler while using whippets when she passed out, strayed off the road, and went through a ditch before going airborne and crashing into multiple trees. The Wrangler landed on its side around 2 p.m.
An 18-year-old female passenger died in the wreck.
Another passenger suffered a fractured sternum, a dislocated collarbone, and a dislocated left shoulder.
Authorities charged the driver with manslaughter and driving under the influence, causing great bodily injury.
The driver is out on a $250,000 bond. She will appear in court for an arraignment on May 8.
