Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle on southbound US-60 in Ottawa County
OTTAWA COUNTY, OK – One person lost their life Thursday morning, May 31, after being struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 60 near southwest Afton, reports KTUL.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) officials said the fatal incident took place on the southbound lanes, north of East 240 Road.
A preliminary investigation indicates a pedestrian was kneeling in a southbound travel lane when they were hit by an oncoming vehicle.
The victim, who suffered severe injuries, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver, who was uninjured in the crash, was said to have left the scene. It was unclear whether they were questioned, but investigators have not indicated any pending charges at this time.
