Driver charged with multiple counts of manslaughter for fatal crash near Whiteside Park
TULSA, OK – According to KTUL, the driver of a car involved in a fatal collision with a firetruck near E 41 St and S New Haven Ave on Feb. 26 has been charged with five counts of first-degree manslaughter.
The driver of a white 2019 Hyundai Accent collided with a firetruck responding to a structure fire around 5:30 p.m.
A 23-year-old woman, a six-year-old, a five-year-old, and a one-year-old all died from injuries sustained in the crash. A pregnant 26-year-old woman lost her baby in the incident.
Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana in the driver’s vehicle. They found marijuana as well as a clear plastic bag containing a white powder and a small plastic straw in the car.
A toxicology report on the driver came back positive for “THC U” and “cocaine UR.” The driver did not have a driver’s license.
Authorities have charged the driver with failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and one count of driving under the influence of drugs in addition to the manslaughter charges.
