5 dead following wrong-way collision on US 83 in Beaver County
BEAVER COUNTY, OK – Five people died in a wrong-way collision on US 83, around .75 miles north of the Texas state line, on Monday, according to News 9.
A 42-year-old man was driving a vehicle south on US 83 when he strayed into the northbound lanes and collided with a vehicle driven by a 53-year-old man around 4:35 a.m.
Rescue crews pronounced all four occupants of the vehicle that was struck dead at the scene. They transported the 42-year-old driver to an area hospital, where he died.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. What caused the driver to stray into oncoming traffic is unclear.
