Man arrested for fatal DUI crash on County Rd 2409 near Barnsdall
BARNSDALL, OK – A man was arrested for a deadly DUI crash on County Rd 2409 near County Rd 2383 on May 4, according to FOX 23.
A 36-year-old man allegedly drove a Mazda SUV north on County Rd 2409 at excessive speeds when he lost control of the vehicle around 5:50 p.m. He strayed off the road and plowed through a fence before rolling over for several hundred feet.
The driver’s two passengers, a 15-year-old boy and the driver’s 16-year-old daughter, were ejected from the vehicle.
Rescue crews pronounced the 15-year-old dead at the scene and rushed the 16-year-old to an area hospital.
Following the collision, the driver fled the scene. Authorities found him in a field around .75 miles away from the crash site.
Troopers rendered aid to the driver before crews transported him to an area hospital in critical condition.
Authorities found a nearly empty bottle of whiskey near the scene.
A blood test showed the driver had a high level of alcohol in his blood.
The driver is charged with first-degree manslaughter, child endangerment by driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of a fatality accident.
