Police pursuit ends in crash in Purcell
PURCELL, OK – A driver was hurt when a man fleeing from police crashed into their vehicle near S Green Ave and W Lincoln St on Sunday, according to FOX 25.
An officer saw a man driving a white Chevy Avalanche going 68 mph in a 45-mph zone around 11 p.m. The officer attempted to pull over the Avalanche, but the driver sped off. During the chase, the Avalanche driver reached speeds of 90 mph.
The Avalanche collided with another vehicle near W Lincoln St. The collision pushed the other vehicle into a ditch.
Eventually, the Avalance driver drove into a ditch. He exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended.
Authorities charged the Avalanche driver with DUI, Felony Eluding, Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident, Causing an Accident While Attempting to Elude an Officer Resulting in Great Bodily Injury, and Reckless Driving.
Rescue crews transported the other driver to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
