Man dies after being ejected during vehicle vs. tractor crash in Pittsburg County

PITTSBURG COUNTY, OK – A 65-year-old local man lost his life Wednesday following a crash involving a tractor on State Highway 31 near McAlester, according to KXII.

The fatal accident took place on the eastbound lanes of the highway just outside of the town.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials said the victim was operating a tractor eastbound on the highway’s shoulder when it was rear-ended by another vehicle traveling in the same direction.

The impact caused the driver of the tractor to eject 90 feet before landing on the roadway.

First responders rushed the patient by airlift to a hospital in Tulsa, where he succumbed to his injuries early Thursday.

The driver of the second vehicle did not sustain serious injuries, according to the OHP. It was not immediately unclear whether any charges or citations are expected.
