Police investigate deadly crash on OK 9 in Norman
NORMAN, OK – According to KOKH, the Norman Police Department is investigating a fatal five-vehicle collision that occurred on OK 9 between SE 48th Ave and SE 60th Ave on Friday.
A 62-year-old woman was heading west on OK 9 when she strayed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old woman. Three other vehicles were then became involved in the wreck.
Rescue crews transported the 62-year-old woman to an area hospital, where she died. They also transported the 28-year-old woman and her 7-year-old child to an area hospital. The 28-year-old woman was admitted in critical condition. The 7-year-old had non-life-threatening injuries.
Crews also transported a 25-year-old male who was driving a truck that was involved in the subsequent collision to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An SUV driven by an 18-year-old woman was also involved in the crash; its driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of another truck were not hurt in the incident.
