Man charged with first-degree manslaughter for fatal crash in Bixby

BIXBY, OK – Authorities have charged the man who allegedly fled the scene of a crash that killed his daughter near E 171st St S and Memorial Dr on Jan. 11 with first-degree manslaughter, according to KJRH.

A male driver was going around 70 mph when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone, hit an oil spot, and crashed around 9:20 p.m.

The man’s 16-year-old daughter was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Rescue crews transported the 16-year-old to an area hospital, where she died.

The driver allegedly left the scene on foot, walked to a family-owned business, and entered another vehicle. Authorities tracked the driver electronically and apprehended the driver in Checotah.

Authorities have charged the driver with first-degree manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatality crash, two counts of child neglect,
reckless driving, transporting an open container of liquor, and driving left of center.
