1 dead following single-vehicle crash on the Cherokee Turnpike in Mayes County
MAYES COUNTY, OK – According to FOX 23, one person died in a single-vehicle collision on the Cherokee Turnpike around two miles west of Locust Grove on Sunday.
A 42-year-old man was driving a pickup truck when he crashed around 7 p.m. A 35-year-old woman was ejected from the truck during the crash. The driver was pinned inside the truck for 20 minutes until emergency crews extricated him.
First responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene and transported the man to an area hospital.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
