Suspected impaired driver fatally collides with another vehicle near Lake Hefner
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A pregnant woman and her unborn baby died in a crash caused by a suspected impaired driver on Lake Hefner Pkwy near Britton Rd on Saturday, according to KOCO.
A male driver was heading south in the northbound lanes of Lake Hefner Pkwy when he slammed head-on into a car driven by a 25-year-old pregnant woman around 12:15 a.m.
Emergency crews extricated the woman and suspect from their vehicles and transported them to area hospitals. The woman and her unborn child died at the hospital. The suspect’s child was in the back seat of his car. They were taken to a local children’s hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities believe the driver displayed signs of impairment, and a warrant was requested for his blood.
Officials have not released the suspect’s name because he has not yet been formally charged.
