Semi-truck wreck closes part of southbound I-35 in McClain County
MCCLAIN COUNTY, OK – Commuters faced significant delays Friday morning on Interstate 35 in Goldsby following a truck collision, according to KOCO.
The incident unfolded on the southbound side of I-35 shortly before 5:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a semi-trailer slammed into the median, forcing the southbound highway to close and causing a major traffic backup.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials said a hazardous materials crew were dispatched to the area to respond to a resulting diesel spill.
Even several hours later, delays continued as far back as Lindsey Street near Norman.
The OHP noted to a KOCO 5 crew that while conducting traffic control during the emergency response, an officer with the Lighthouse Police Department fell from a bridge about 6 to 8 feet tall. While his condition has not been disclosed, early reports indicate his injuries are not serious.
