EL RENO, OK – A male hit-and-run suspect was arrested in connection with a collision that left an El Reno police officer in critical condition, KOCO reports.
The events unraveled around 2:00 a.m. when the suspect, driving an unspecified vehicle, struck the officer and immediately fled the scene. Just before 10:30 a.m., El Reno police located the suspect’s vehicle on the 600th block of Southwest 25th Street.
Police interviewed the suspect and arrested him for failing to remain at the scene of a crash that resulted in great bodily injury and assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
As of this writing, investigators are working to finalize charges against the suspect, and the officer is continuing to recover.
Man, 32, booked into jail following crash near Durant
NEAR DURANT, OK – A 32-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Bryan County Jail following a crash that occurred near Durant on Monday.
According to KXII, a crash took place. The 32-year-old man, along with two children, a 3-year-old boy, and a 6-year-old girl, had left the scene of the collision and reportedly ran into a field.
A passerby witnessed the man and the children running away from the crash and called law enforcement. Officials issued a public safety notice for the man, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a helicopter, drones, and a K-9 unit were all summoned to the scene of the crash, and the area where the man took off.
By 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, officials found the man and arrested him. He faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash and child neglect.
The two children were unharmed, according to OHP.
Authorities did not specify the events that led to the collision nor disclose the exact or approximate location of the crash.
Woman, 66, loses life to multi-vehicle accident in Enid
ENID, OK – A 66-year-old woman lost her life to a two-vehicle accident that happened at the North 114th Street and U.S. 412 connector on Monday.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol told KOCO that the 66-year-old woman stopped her car and was waiting to cross onto U.S. 412 from North 114th Street. She waited for a car to pass by. She did not see a second car approaching and crashed into it.
The woman died from her injuries. The other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is reportedly in stable condition.
One life claimed, another hurt in two-vehicle crash in Seminole Co.
SEMINOLE, OK – One driver died and another was hurt in a two-vehicle crash that happened at the intersection of U.S. 377 and E.W. 118 Road on Monday.
The collision occurred around 10:15 p.m. Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed the victim was from St. Charles, Missouri, according to KOCO.
OHP has not specified how the crash happened or announced any charges.
Big rig fatally collides with bicyclist in Sand Springs
SAND SPRINGS, OK – A 21-year-old cyclist lost his life after colliding with a big rig on Highway 97 Monday afternoon, according to Newson6.
Preliminary details indicate that the big rig driver was pursuing a turn onto a service road when he did not see the truck and crashed into it.
Local police and Oklahoma Highway Patrol both responded to the scene.
The truck driver cooperated with Sand Springs police. No charges have been announced thus far.
Police and troopers are investigating the details behind the collision.
Update 10/23/2025: New information from KTUL revealed that the man was operating an e-bike and was a Sand Springs local.
Man, 71, killed in crash caused by distracted driver in Durant
DURANT, OK – A 71-year-old man was killed in a crash caused by a distracted driver last Friday, Oct. 17, KTEN reports.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a 71-year-old man was working on a State Highway 78 shoulder. During his project, a driver of a car got distracted, lost control of their vehicle, and crashed into the elderly man.
The 71-year-old man died at the scene.
OHP did not say if the distracted driver will face charges, and has not released the victim’s place of residence.
