TULSA, OK – One person died, and another was injured in a rear-end collision involving a construction truck on westbound Interstate 44 on Friday, Newson6 said.
Preliminary details show that the driver of a construction truck pulled over onto the interstate shoulder before Exit 223C for 33rd West Avenue and was rear-ended by a second vehicle.
The construction truck had an arrow and flashing lights activated at the time of the crash. The construction worker was injured, while the driver who caused the rear-end collision died.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed that a passenger from the driver’s vehicle was OK, but did not specify if they sustained minor injuries.
OHP and other officials shut down the majority of the interstate and left one lane open for an estimated two hours to accommodate the scene clean-up process and for the overall investigation. During that time, drivers were asked to seek alternative routes.
