NEAR NEWKIRK, OK – A 47-year-old woman from Newkirk lost her life to a two-vehicle crash that happened west of Newkirk last Thursday, May 7.
The collision occurred before 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of North Waverly Street and West Earth Road, News9 reports. Oklahoma Highway Patrol determined that one driver was traveling south on Waverly and one driver was going west on West Earth Road when they collided.
The southbound vehicle rotated one-quarter before stopping on the driver’s side.
The westbound driver, the 47-year-old woman from Newkirk, died from her injuries.
The southbound driver, a 34-year-old man, was spared from injuries.
No other occupants were reported.
OHP is working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Sand Springs PD arrests hit-and-run suspect following injury collision
SAND SPRINGS, OK – Sand Springs Police arrested a hit-and-run suspect following a collision that injured one of their own officers and another driver last Saturday, May 9, News on 6 said.
The incident began with a hit-and-run crash that happened on the 9000th block of West U.S. Highway 412. The hit-and-run suspect fled the scene and was shortly spotted by Sand Springs Police.
While police were working to keep the suspect from fleeing again, one of their own officers had collided with another vehicle at West 81st Avenue and Charles Page Boulevard.
The officer and driver of the vehicle were hospitalized for injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
The officer has since been released from the hospital and was said to be recovering at home.
Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of DUI and multiple other offenses.

Man, 37, killed in UTV rollover collision near Nowata
NOWATA, OK – A 37-year-old man from South Coffeyville was killed in a UTV rollover collision that occurred south of Nowata on Monday.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol told KSN News Channel 16 that it happened at 6:45 p.m. on County Road NS 416, which is half a mile south of County Road EWS 3. The man’s 2021 CAN-AM Maverick UTV rolled over, leading him to be partially ejected and pinned underneath.
It’s unclear if the man was able to self-extricate or required the aid of fire crews. Regardless, EMS personnel rushed him to Coffeyville Regional Hospital, where he died from his injuries just before 7:30 p.m.
OHP confirmed the UTV passenger survived and was not injured.
OHP has not revealed why the man lost control of his UTV.

Injuries reported after car crashes into OKC restaurant
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Several people were injured after a car crashed into the Taste of China Restaurant in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, News9 reports.
Oklahoma City Police did not specify the exact cause of the crash but said a passenger inside the vehicle suffered a medical episode prior to their driver plowing into the restaurant, located off Interstate 240 and Western Service Road.
Police said at least “a few people” sustained non-life-threatening injuries, but the number of people hurt and the severity of those injuries have not been confirmed.
The cause of the crash is being determined.

At least 1 injured in vehicle accident in OKC’s West Watch
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – At least one person was injured in a vehicle accident that took place in the West Watch neighborhood on Thursday.
Oklahoma Department of Public Safety was dispatched to the 11200th block of West Reno Avenue and pulled up to the scene before 1 p.m., according to the OKC Response and Accident Tracker.
DPS has not specified the severity of injuries or said whether they cited anyone.
