TULSA, OK – An alleged DUI driver was responsible for a crash that sent a mother and her child, a toddler, to a hospital on Thursday, KTUL reports.

The driver crashed his white sedan into a light pole, resulting in minor damage to the pole and significant front-end damage to the car. Police said they performed a field sobriety test on the driver, who failed that test.

The driver and mother were left with unspecified injuries, and the toddler, who was not in a car seat, had critical injuries. The Emergency Medical Services Authority transported the toddler and mother to a hospital.

EMSA treated the driver at the scene for his injuries and then transported him in the ambulance. It’s not clear if he needed to go to the hospital, but police said he would be put into custody.

Police did not specify whether the driver had a familial connection with the woman and her child.
