NORMAN, OK – A female driver lost her life and a Cleveland County deputy was sent to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision on Friday, Koco5 said.
The incident happened after 11 p.m. in the area of Cedar Lane and Classen Boulevard and involved the deputy’s vehicle.
The circumstances behind the crash remain unclear, but the impact initially left the female driver in serious condition. She died from her injuries a short time later.
As of this writing, the deputy remains hospitalized, recovering from unspecified injuries.
Norman police have not provided additional commentary on this particular crash and are continuing to investigate the details of this collision.
Person seriously hurt in motorcycle-vehicle crash in NW OKC
NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A person was seriously hurt in a motorcycle-vehicle crash that took place in Northwest Oklahoma City after 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Oklahoma City Police told News9 that the motorcycle and vehicle collided on the 7000 block of North May Avenue.
The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital by EMS.
The other driver was uninjured.
Police did not specify whether they issued any lane closures, but said traffic delays were possible as crews worked to clean up debris from the collision and remove the impacted vehicles.
Police have not announced any citations or charges and are actively working to determine the events leading to the crash.
Adult found dead inside submerged car in Lake Overholser
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Oklahoma City Police said they found an adult dead inside a submerged car at Lake Overholser on Saturday.
Koco5 said the incident was first reported at 2 a.m. and happened in the area of County Line Road and South Overholser Drive. This was where someone saw a car’s headlights inside Lake Overholser.
The fire rescue and diving team, along with police, responded to the scene.
First responders located the vehicle and the adult inside, who they declared dead at the scene.
Police said the adult was the only person inside the car and does not believe there were other occupants involved.
On a similar note, our team also reported on a similar crash that also took place at Lake Overholser last month, on April 12. Two people, a man and a woman, died after crashing their car into the lake, and a third driver (not reported deceased) had also reportedly crashed into the lake.
Police have not confirmed what led to last month’s crash or Saturday’s crash, but according to Newson9, city officials did add a reflective arrow near the lake to increase drivers’ visibility. Officials have not hinted at whether any other safety measures would be pursued to reduce the risk of crashes at the lake.
Woman, 23, dies after car crashes into tree in Mayes Co.
MAYES COUNTY, OK – A 23-year-old woman from Pryor died after she crashed her car into a tree in Mayes County on Saturday, OKCFOX said.
The single-car crash happened before 8 p.m. on County Road East 620 Road. The woman from Pryor was driving south on the road when she lost control of her car, drifted out of her lane, and crashed into a fence. Seconds later, she crashed into a tree.
The young woman died from her injuries at the scene.
Law enforcement is working to determine the contributing factors behind the single-car crash.

OKC firefighters dispatched to scene of semi-truck fire on I-44
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Oklahoma City firefighters were dispatched to the scene of a semi-truck fire that happened on westbound Interstate 44 near NW 39th Street on Sunday.
Fire crews responded to the scene after 9 a.m., Koco reports. Video footage from a driver and shared by Koco shows the front of the truck completely engulfed in flames, with heavy black smoke surrounding it. Officials shut down the area to allow fire crews to extinguish the flames. All lanes have reopened since.
The condition of the truck driver and the cause of the fire have not been made immediately clear.

OKC PD dispatched to school bus collision in NE OKC
NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Oklahoma City Police were dispatched to the scene of a school bus collision in Northeast Oklahoma City on Monday.
Koco5 said the crash occurred near Interstate 35. Oklahoma City Public Schools confirmed the school bus belonged to them and said the children on board the bus were not injured.
The children, including one in a wheelchair, took another bus to get to school. Someone helped that child in the wheelchair onto the other bus.
Police have not specified the events leading to this crash or said whether anyone was cited.
