UPDATE: Woman killed in pedestrian-train crash in Pauls Valley, OHP confirm

PAULS VALLEY, OK – A woman was killed in a pedestrian-train crash in Pauls Valley on Sunday, according to an update from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

OHP told KOCO that they received a call before 2 p.m. about the pedestrian-train crash and clarified that it occurred in a deeper area of the woods, not specifically at County Road 1550 and U.S. 77 North. However, officials closed that railroad crossing for several hours for the investigation. Pauls Valley Fire Department, the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office, and other officials were at the scene.

Based on what officials know so far, it seems the woman was walking on the railroad tracks, traveling south, when she was struck by a train.

The woman succumbed to her injuries a short time later. OHP has not determined why the woman was walking on the tracks, nor have they released her identity at this time.
