CARTER COUNTY, OK –  Five people were injured as a result of a multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Interstate 35 South last Tuesday, Dec. 30.

KXII said the events unfolded when a box truck driver swerved off the highway to avoid crashing into a deer. The box truck proceeded to crash into a disabled Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck parked on the shoulder.

Moments later, a semi-truck driver crashed into the box truck and hit two people, a driver and passenger of the Honda, who were standing outside their vehicle and rendering aid to the box truck driver.

The box truck overturned again after being struck by the semi-truck, which then plowed into the Honda.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed that the box truck driver, the Chevrolet Silverado driver, the Chevrolet Silverado passenger, the Honda driver, and the Honda front-seat passenger were injured.

Medical helicopter personnel airlifted the Chevrolet Silverado passenger and the Honda driver to Medical City Denton. Ambulance personnel transported the Honda passenger to Mercy Hospital Ardmore for treatment.

The box truck and Chevrolet Silverado driver sustained minor injuries and declined to be taken to a hospital.

The two rear-seated Honda passengers and the semi-truck driver were uninjured.

Law enforcement believes the semi-truck driver was distracted while operating the truck. At this time, it’s unclear whether they were cited.

A full investigation is underway.

Street racing ends in fiery crash outside Tulsa Dave & Buster’s

TULSA, OK – Street racing between two vehicles led to a fiery crash that happened outside a Dave & Buster’s restaurant on Wednesday, KTUL reports.

Preliminary details from Tulsa Police show that two vehicles were racing each other. One of the drivers, operating a red Ford Escape SUV, lost control of their vehicle and crashed into an object outside the chain restaurant located at 6812 S 105th E Ave.

The impact of that hit caused the Ford Escape’s radiator to catch on fire. Fire crews were quick to arrive at the scene and extinguish those flames.

Police said no one, including the street racers and first responders, was injured.
