SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A woman who was initially said to have sustained a leg injury as a result of a Southwest OKC crash on Wednesday has now been confirmed to be uninjured.
This comes as a correction in connection with our previous reporting. An initial Koco5 News report stated that the woman was injured after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, classifying it as a hit-and-run. However, officials later confirmed that the driver did stay at the scene, and Koco5 then re-posted a revised article with the updated information.
The crash happened around 8 a.m. Southwest 52nd Street and Western Avenue.
Boy, 17, killed in ATV collision in Lone Grove
LONE GROVE, OK – A 17-year-old boy was killed in an ATV collision that occurred on eastbound Timber Road on the outskirts of Lone Grove on Wednesday.
KXII said the incident unfolded around noon when another juvenile, also operating an ATV, crashed into the back of another ATV driven by the 17-year-old boy.
The 17-year-old boy was thrown from the ATV and then struck by a westbound Jeep.
Medical personnel rushed to the scene and hurried the seriously injured 17-year-old to a hospital in Ardmore, where he later died.
The Lone Grove Superintendent confirmed the 17-year-old was a Lone Grove High School Student.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol also revealed that the teenager and the other juvenile did not wear helmets.
Crews close I-40 in Del City due to semi-truck, car crash
DEL CITY, OK – Transportation crews had to shut down westbound Interstate 40 along Sunnylane Road due to a car, semi-truck crash that happened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
Koco5 said officials left one lane open to accommodate the scene clean-up process.
Officials have not reported any injuries and are working to pinpoint the cause of the crash.
ATV overturns near Moyers, claiming life of 10-year-old child
NEAR MOYERS, OK – A 10-year-old died as a result of an ATV rollover accident that took place near Moyers.
The rollover accident occurred around 10 p.m. on Wednesday. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol told KTEN that the child, who was operating an ATV, was reportedly going too fast for road conditions when they tried to turn left from Short Trail Road onto Buck Creek Road and lost control of their ATV.
The ATV overturned, and the child was ejected. Moments later, it fell on top of the child, and they then succumbed to their injuries.
The child and their passenger, who survived and were uninjured, did not wear seatbelts, OHP confirmed.
ONG personnel called to crash in NW OKC
NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Oklahoma Natural Gas personnel were dispatched to the scene of a crash in Northwest OKC on Thursday.
Officials told Koco5 that they believe the driver of a car crashed into a gas line or meter, prior to crashing into the right side of a floral shop located on Meridian Avenue and along Northwest 47th Street.
The car sustained significant damage and was towed away, although it is not immediately clear whether the driver themself was injured.
ONG crews closed one lane of Meridian Avenue while they cleaned up the spill, and have reopened all lanes since.
DPS dispatched to collision in downtown OKC
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety was called to the scene of a collision in downtown Oklahoma City on Thursday.
The crash took place before 12:30 p.m. on the 200th block of Western Avenue, according to the OKC Response and Accident Tracker.
DPS has not reported any injuries or citations at this time.
