1 hospitalized following crash caused by road rage incident in Tulsa
TULSA, OK – One person was sent to the hospital after a road rage incident that led to a serious crash in Tulsa last Friday, June 5.
Police told KTUL that the road rage incident-turned crash occurred after midnight in the area of Interstate 44 and 129th East Avenue.
A person driving a white Silverado pickup truck started tailgating a white vintage Japanese Mazda, with the steering wheel located on the right side rather than the left.
As the tailgating continued, the Mazda driver drove in circles to see whether the Silverado driver would continue following him. During that time, the pickup truck driver rear-ended the Mazda, which caused it to spin out of control. The pickup truck driver also lost control of their pickup truck, jumped a curb, and crashed into a concrete pillar under the I-44 bridge.
The Emergency Medical Services Authority took the pickup truck driver to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The Mazda driver was not taken to the ER and also declined medical treatment at the scene.
Police also noted that the Mazda driver had called 911 prior to being rear-ended. The Mazda driver also told police he was not sure why the pickup truck driver followed him.
