Pursuit ends when pickup truck crashes into creek in Billings

NORTH ENID & BILLINGS, OK – A pursuit that began in North Enid ended when the fleeing driver crashed their pickup truck into a creek in Billings on Monday, Koco reports.

The incident unfolded when a North Enid police officer first spotted the driver of a white Ford F150 pickup truck driving at a rate of 73 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver wouldn’t listen, which prompted a pursuit.

The driver continued driving and ended up in Billings. He continued driving at a high rate of speed on dirt roads before going into a field and crashing into a creek.

The driver reportedly exited the vehicle, hid from officers, and was found an hour later.

The officer used a bullet resistant shield to search the pickup truck, which was found empty.

The officer handcuffed the fleeing driver. There’s no confirmation that an official arrest was made, and no charges were reported to have been filed.

The officer did confirm, however, that the driver had a valid driver’s license and registration, and said if he had pulled over from the get-go, then he would have been issued a ticket.
