Canadian County deputy injured in crash in Yukon
YUKON, OK – A Canadian County deputy and one other person were hurt in a wreck on I-40 near Garth Brooks Blvd on Friday, according to KOKH.
The deputy had pulled over a driver for improper tag display and was standing on the passenger side of that car when a driver side-swiped the deputy’s truck and collided with the stopped vehicle around 8 a.m.
Rescue crews transported the driver of the stopped car and the deputy to an area hospital. The deputy suffered arm, leg, and foot injuries. The driver who was hit suffered life-threatening injuries.
Following the collision, the driver who hit the stopped car and the deputy remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Officials believe the driver who caused the collision was asleep or tired at the time of the accident. They do not believe impairment was a factor in the wreck.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
